Step-by-Step Guide to Check Your UNIBEN Admission Status
Checking your admission status involves two crucial platforms: the UNIBEN official portal (Kofa) and the mandatory JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).
1. Check Your Status on JAMB CAPS (Mandatory First Step)
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) CAPS is the system of record. You must check and accept your admission offer here.
- Visit the JAMB e-Facility Portal
- Log In: Enter your registered Email Address and Password.
- Use Desktop View: If using a mobile phone, enable the “Desktop Site” option in your browser menu.
- Access CAPS: Click on the ‘Check Admission Status’ tab, and then click ‘Access my CAPS’.
- Review Status: Click on the ‘Admission Status’ tab.
- If Admitted: You will see the message: “Congratulations, you have been offered Provisional Admission.”
- If Still Processing: If the status is “Admission Still In Progress” or “Not Admitted,” keep checking, as lists are uploaded in batches.
- Accept/Reject: If admitted, click on the ‘ACCEPT ADMISSION’ button immediately to secure your spot. Note that rejecting the offer will forfeit your admission to UNIBEN.
2. Check Your Status on the UNIBEN Kofa Portal
This portal (WAeUP/Kofa) will contain your UNIBEN-specific provisional admission letter and guide you on the next steps.
- Go to the UNIBEN Admission Status Checker: Navigate to the UNIBEN Kofa portal. Always confirm the current official link from the UNIBEN website.
- Input Details: Enter your JAMB Registration Number or Applicant ID and your Surname (Lastname).
- View Status: Click the appropriate button to check your status.
- Print Provisional Letter: If admitted, follow the instructions to print your UNIBEN Provisional Admission Letter.
Action Plan: Steps to Secure and Complete Your Admission
Securing your admission is a multi-step process that often begins online. Follow the outlined procedure for UNIBEN below:
1. Pay the Acceptance and Clearance Processing Fees
The first and most critical step is to pay the necessary fees to accept the offer and unlock your student registration profile.
- Log in to your UNIBEN Kofa student account.
- Locate the link for Acceptance Fee Payment and generate the payment invoice (Remita).
- Proceed to pay the required non-refundable sum.
- Print your Acceptance Fee Receipt.
2. Online Clearance and Document Upload (Crucial!)
UNIBEN has historically conducted most of the initial clearance online. You must accurately upload all required documents.
- Log back into your Kofa portal.
- Locate the “Clearance Data” or “Eligibility Form” section.
- Scan and upload the following documents (as a single PDF file, where required):
- Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age
- Local Government Area of Origin Certificate/Affidavit
- O’Level Result(s) (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB)
- Scratch Card(s) for your O’Level result checker(s) (UNIBEN uses this to verify results online).
- JAMB Admission Letter (Institution Copy)
- Acceptance Letter (Printed from the portal)
- Guarantor’s Letter, Affidavit of Good Conduct, and Non-Membership of Secret Cults (Forms usually downloadable from the portal).
3. Pay School Charges (Tuition) and Register Courses
- After successfully completing the online clearance, you will be cleared to pay the main School Charges/Tuition Fees.
- Log in to the portal and generate the payment slip for your School Charges. Pay before the stipulated deadline.
- Upon payment, proceed to Register Your Courses for the semester online, following your departmental timetable and consulting your course adviser.
Don’t Forget These Key Deadlines!
The admission process is time-bound. Do not delay any of the following:
- JAMB CAPS Acceptance: Accept your admission on CAPS immediately.
- Acceptance Fee Payment: Pay on the UNIBEN portal before the deadline (usually a short window is given).
- Online Clearance: Complete the document upload and clearance request as soon as possible.
We look forward to welcoming the newest class of students to the University of Benin! Go and make the most of this opportunity.
