Candidates must satisfy the following conditions to be eligible for the ABSU screening:

A. UTME Candidates (Post-UTME)

  • Institution Choice: Must have chosen ABSU as their First Choice institution in the 2025 JAMB UTME. Candidates who did not choose ABSU but wish to apply must perform a Change of Institution to ABSU on the JAMB portal.
  • Minimum UTME Score: Must have scored 140 and above in the 2025 JAMB UTME.
  • O’Level Results: Must possess a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB).
  • JAMB CAPS: Candidates must upload their O’Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal.

B. Direct Entry (DE) Candidates

  • Must have chosen ABSU as their First Choice in the 2025 JAMB DE application.
  • Must possess the relevant qualifications (ND, HND, NCE, A/Level, etc.) as required by ABSU and JAMB, in addition to the O’Level requirement.
  • Crucially: DE candidates must ensure their academic transcripts are forwarded to the Registrar, Abia State University, Uturu.

The application and payment are strictly done online via the ABSU portal.

Step 1: Generate Payment Invoice

  1. Visit the official ABSU Admissions Portal:
  2. Click on ‘APPLY NOW’ and select ‘Regular Undergraduate’ or ‘Direct Entry’ application.
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration Number and your valid email address to generate a preliminary invoice containing the Payment Reference Number (Invoice Number).

Step 2: Make Payment

  1. Pay the non-refundable fee of ₦2,000.00 at any of the ABSU designated banks:
    • ABSU Microfinance Bank
    • Zenith Bank Plc
    • First Bank of Nigeria Plc
    • Fidelity Bank Plc
  2. Ensure the bank captures the invoice number correctly during payment.

Step 3: Complete the Application Form

  1. Return to the ABSU portal:
  2. Click on ‘APPLY NOW’ again, and then click ‘Continue Application’.
  3. Enter the Invoice Number you obtained from the bank receipt to access the full application form.
  4. Fill in all sections accurately, including your O’Level results, grades, and subjects.

  • No CBT Examination: ABSU’s Post-UTME screening is primarily done by verifying the uploaded data and results. Candidates are screened based on their UTME score and O’Level performance.
  • Awaiting Results (AR): Candidates awaiting their O’Level Results may apply, but must ensure the results are uploaded to the ABSU portal and, more importantly, to JAMB CAPS as soon as they are released.

Candidates with awaiting results can apply but must upload their O’Level results to the JAMB CAPS Portal at a JAMB-approved CBT Centre.
