This guide provides the steps, eligibility criteria, and typical dates for the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening for the 2025/2026 academic session.
1. Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the COOU screening, you must meet the following criteria:
A. UTME Candidates
- First Choice: You must have chosen COOU as your First Choice institution in the 2025 JAMB UTME.
- Change of Institution: Candidates who did not initially choose COOU but scored the eligible mark can apply, provided they perform a Change of Institution to COOU on the JAMB portal.
- Minimum UTME Score:
- 200 and above for competitive courses like Law, Medicine & Surgery, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
- 150 and above for all other courses.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2025.
- O’Level: You must possess a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
B. Direct Entry (DE) Candidates
- You must have chosen COOU as your First Choice institution in the 2025 JAMB Direct Entry registration.
- You must possess an acceptable qualification such as A’ Level, OND, HND, NCE, or a First Degree in relevant disciplines that meets the specific requirements of your intended course of study.
2. Important Dates (Based on 2025/2026 Announcements)
The online registration is a one-time process for the screening.

3. Step-by-Step Registration Guide
Eligible candidates are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee of Two Thousand Naira ($\text{N}2,000.00$) only.
Step 1: Generate Invoice
- Visit the official COOU Application Portal
- Click on the “Prospective Students” tab.
- Select “Generate 2025/2026 PUTME Invoice” (or Direct Entry Invoice).
- Enter your JAMB Registration Number and click Sign in to generate your Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) invoice.
Step 2: Make Payment
- Pay the fee using the RRR number generated:
- Online: Pay with your ATM Card (MasterCard/Visa/Verve).
- Bank: Print the invoice and pay at any commercial bank with the Remita platform.
Step 3: Complete Application Form
- Return to the COOU portal
- Re-enter your JAMB Registration Number and click “Apply Here” (or log in again).
- Fill in all required fields, including your date of birth, personal details, and academic information.
Step 4: Upload Documents
- Upload the following documents (ensure each file size is not above 50KB):
- JAMB Result Slip
- O’Level Certificate(s) (1st and 2nd sitting, if applicable)
- Crucial: Ensure your O’Level results are uploaded to JAMB CAPS through a JAMB-accredited CBT Centre. Failure to do this will disqualify you.
Step 5: Review, Submit, and Print
- Review the Summary Page carefully to confirm all details are accurate.
- Tick the confirmation box.
- Click “SUBMIT”.
- Print your Acknowledgement Slip as proof of your application.
